ABOUT US
Airborne Early Warning & Control System (AEW&C;) is a requirement projected by
IAF. Development of the system has been taken up by CABS, with the support from
other DRDO labs. The complete system has 14 sub-systems with 84 Line replaceable
units (LRUs) which are to be integrated on the platform i.e. EMB-145 aircraft. To
provide QA support for the developmental activities AEW&C; system, and ORDAQA has
been established with the man power of one PScO and one SSO I in CABS, DRDO,
Bangalore.
ROLE AND FUNTION
Scrutiny of all documents pertaining to the of design & development of AEW&C;
system’s LRUs, such as Technical Specifications, Standard of Preparation(SOP),
Qualification Test Procedures (QTPs), Drawings ,Bill of Materials (BoMs),
Preliminary Design Review(PDR) documents, Critical Design Review(CDR) documents,
Qualification Test Reports (QTRs), Environmental test & Environmental Stress
Screening (ESS) Specifications, EMI / EMC test specifications, documents pertaining
to the software developments, Process specifications, ground test schedules, User
manuals, Maintenance Manuals and documents pertaining to the structural modification
of platform etc.
Approval of Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs) and Acceptance Test Reports (ATRs),
Approval of all the design & development documents pertaining to Ground Test
Rigs, Test equipments and ground equipments Type approval of Test rigs and
integration rigs including their software etc.
Participation in PDR, CDR, Design review meetings, Defect Investigation (DI)
meetings, Failure Analysis, Project progress, local modification, Programme
Management Board meetings and meetings called up time to time for shorting out day
to day issues.
Acting as the nodal agency, in respect of QA support rendered by other OCRIs for the
AEW&C; programme and coordinating with them on regular basis.
Participation in the Qualification tests, EMI/EMC testing, sub-system and system
integration test, Ground test and flight trials of LRUs and sub-systems and
undertaking Acceptance test of LRUs.
Participation in the independent Verification and Validation of software and
documents developed for the systems.
Standardisation of various documents like ATP, QTP, SOP, failure reports, test
reports etc, prepared during the course of system development.
Supporting and guiding CABS in carrying out quality audit of sub contractors/ vendor
and to improve their quality system.
